Drum Lessons by Dan Hurst Gravesend and surrounding areas07956 314413

Private Drum Tuition

Lessons are tailored to suit individual needs, whether experienced or complete beginner. You may need help with a written drum part for band or orchestra, working out rhythms and fills for a particular song, learning a particular style or technique, or just brushing up neglected skills. A pair of drum sticks is all you need for the first lesson with advice on required books (in addition to my own materials) and equipment given by me on subsequent visits. If you have your own study materials, bring them along too. I teach all levels of both the Trinity Guildhall and Rockschool syllabus.

Owning a drum kit would be an advantage, though by no means essential in the early stages.  If you are considering purchasing a kit please let me advise you before you commit yourself. There are some amazing deals on new kits to tempt you, but be warned – They are often built to a very poor standard, where every possible corner has been cut to keep the price low, and will sound horrible.

As part of your study I would also heartily recommend watching and listening to as many drummers as you can. is excellent for this. And  The importance of plenty of study of this kind should really go without saying, though not nearly enough of you do it! And If you are old enough to get into a pub or club, go to one that has live music and watch the drummers!

Drum lessons are given at my home in Gravesend (5 minutes walk from Gravesend Station), though if you would prefer, a home visit can also be arranged.
